An investigation revealed that the couple was struck as they walked in a crosswalk with their three-year-old daughter in a stroller. "All three were transported to Guelph General Hospital where the mother, a 38-year-old Guelph woman, succumbed to her injuries," police said. "Her 38-year-old husband was treated for minor injuries and released," authorities added. "Their daughter was airlifted to a Hamilton trauma centre as a precaution and was released from hospital the same night." The pickup driver, a 19-year-old man from Northern Ontario, remained at the scene and was not injured in the collision.
