That's where the suspect, identified as Kenyon Coleman, was waiting with an automatic rifle, and he began shooting at deputies when they arrived, the sheriff added.
Gonzalez said the gun eventually jammed before the suspect retreated into the wooded area and deputies were able to arrest him.
Coleman was wearing all black, had a chair set up, was armed with a rifle, and had a large amount of ammunition, HCSO said.
