In the West, Baby-boomers have already ceded space to Generation X. Gen X constitutes about 30%, Gen Y (1990-2000) around 18%, and Gen Z, who were born after 2001, constitute about 28% when minors under 18 are excluded. The September 8–9, 2025 Gen Z protests, which toppled the government within 24 hours, crystallized this contradiction. Without a transfer of political power between generations, democracy can become stagnant and lose its legitimacy, leading to inevitable revolt. The recent protests by Gen Z have made it clear that generational conflict is no longer simmering but has erupted onto the streets.
