SRINAGAR: The water level in the river Jhelum recorded a sharp rise between 6 and 7 PM on Wednesday, particularly in Srinagar and other key monitoring points, even as tributaries across the Valley continued to show a receding trend.
The level at Wullar, however, remained static during the same period.
In contrast, tributaries including Vishow Nallah, Rambiyara Nallah, Lidder Nallah and Sindh Nallah continued to show a decreasing water level, much to the relief of residents in flood-prone belts.
Authorities said the sharp rise in Jhelum levels, particularly at Srinagar and Asham, is being closely monitored.
Emergency measures are in place as the situation evolves, and people in vulnerable areas have been advised to stay alert.
