ASX falls in early trade as banks and tech stocks decline
['Stan Choe']
WA Today - Business
The Australian sharemarket has broken its winning streak of the past three sessions, opening lower on Wednesday after Wall Street took a breather from its relentless rally, and as local investors await a key inflation report.
The report will be a key factor in the Reserve Bank’s decision on whether to cut interest rates further in November.
Wall Street is counting on more rate cuts this year.
Credit: BloombergTech stocks were the biggest losers in early trade, with the sector down 1.1 per cent after tech megacaps stocks declined on Wall Street.
Australia’s biggest IT stock, WiseTech Global, slumped 2.3 per cent, software maker Xero shed 1.4 per cent and app Life360 fell 1.3 per cent.
