The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) is hosting a pivotal National Parole Review Summit at the Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Facility in Tshwane on 22-23 September.
The Department says the summit aims to revamp a parole system criticised for being inconsistent, unclear and disconnected from community needs.

Speaking with the media on the first day of the summit, Correctional Services Minister Pieter Groenewald said that there is a need to re-check the parole system.
“We must ensure that the parole system will enhance, ensure and strengthen firstly justice, but also create safer communities for South Africa,” said Groenewald.
