The most useful bits here may be notes on how to set up clients to work with SourceHut’s chat.sr.ht, particularly Goguma and Emacs/ERC, and some of the cool features of IRCv3 things [modernising IRC], like the soju bouncer (which is used by chat.sr.ht), for which see the section below “Smooth & Modern IRC Implementation & Practice (mobile, Emacs)", which you might jump to if you don’t want to read a bunch of preamble. chat.sr.ht isn’t the only hosted IRC bouncer service which runs some version of the soju bouncer, there is also IRC Today [discussed also on lobste.rs], which is hosted in Paris on Scaleway servers.
