During the pandemic, the job market got so hot that software developers' and engineers' pay rose dramatically, candidates could choose from multiple job offers, and the perceived shortage led to many "boot camp" programs to instill the essential technical skills to get hired. A job at Amazon says to another hiring manager, "This person knows how to work in a tough and grueling environment."
