The Palestinian flag was raised outside what is now Palestine's embassy in London on Monday, a day after the British government's historic recognition of a Palestinian state. The head of the Palestinian Mission, and soon-to-be ambassador to the UK Husam Zomlot, raised the flag at a ceremony on Monday. "In the face of the growing horror in the Middle East we are acting to keep alive the possibility of peace and a two-state solution," he added. The UK was joined by Canada, Australia and Portugal, which all issued declarations recognising Palestine on Sunday. More countries are expected to follow on Monday when France and Saudi Arabia convene a conference on the two-state solution at the UN General Assembly in New York.
