The Gaza-bound humanitarian 'Sumud' flotilla, attempting to break Israel's siege on the Palestinian enclave, warned on Tuesday that the extreme rhetoric coming from the Israeli government may be used to justify the deployment of violence against the activists. Dozens of boats from Europe and North Africa are sailing thousands of kilometres across the Mediterranean as part of the Global Sumud Flotilla to break Israel's siege on Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid. The Israeli government has deployed increasingly extreme language against the flotilla, alleging that the initiative was "organised by Hamas", which Israel is at war with in Gaza. "Israel's rhetoric against the Global Sumud Flotilla sets the stage for further escalation. The Global Sumud Flotilla is the third and largest attempt to break Israel's siege this year.
