Japanese Defense Minister Nakatani Gen has announced that Japan is sending its F-15 fighter jets to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany for defense exchanges starting on September 14. This is the first-ever dispatch of Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) fighter jets to Europe and Canada, expanding scope of the service’s overseas activities. Japan currently operates two main types of F-15 fighter jets: single-seat F-15Js and twin-seat F-15DJs. The Royal Canadian Air Force has never deployed fighter jets to Japan. Meanwhile, U.S. military fighter jets are stationed at multiple bases as part of the U.S. military in Japan and operate on a daily basis.
