News Headline -Work has started on the revitalisation of the oldest hospital in Kebbi state, Sir Yahaya Memorial, Birnin Kebbi, under the improvement of healthcare services programme of incumbent administration of Governor Nasir Idris. Five other hospitals spread across the four emirates in Kebbi, will also receive a facelift to enhance quality healthcare. The permanent secretary of Sir Yahaya Hospital, who is also the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Shehu KoKo, took journalists round the old Maternity Unit, known as ‘Fati Lami’, which has been relocated to a new building inside the hospital complex. “Our maternity unit is a referral maternity which caters for pregnant women including those with complications from all parts of Kebbi, also offering surgical services. “Before the evacuation, Fati Lami maternity unit has become inadequate for bed spacing and movement of patients and staff.”
