News Headline -Professor of history of the Department of History and Strategic Studies, University of Lagos, David Aworawo, has commended the earliest traditional rulers of Lagos, for laying the foundation for the success, prosperity and advancement of the state, by opening the doors of the state for foreigners and investors to invest in the state. “Authority, unity and control lead to development; this applies to Lagos of today. Legacy of King Akinsemoyin and other kings that came after him (including Kosoko) has been sustained till today,” Professor Aworawo said. He added that the energy of King Kosoko and the determination to achieve what he wants to establish stood him out, and that is why he first fled to Epe when the British waged war against him for slave trading. Moreso, his signing of treaty with the British allowed him to return as Lagos monarch in September 1853.
