The floods in Punjab have not merely washed away crops and villages; they have shaken the very foundation of Pakistan’s agricultural economy. The devastation spans across all major crops, directly threatening Pakistan’s food security, export earnings, and rural livelihoods. Sargodha lost 23 villages and 12,073 acres; Lahore, 275 villages and 149,732 acres; Gujranwala, 800 villages and 301,983 acres; and Gujrat, 387 villages with 289,549 acres devastated. They take pictures, issue statements, and leave us to starve.” Across Punjab, farmers’ protests are gaining momentum.
