Apps from unverified developers will be blocked by a new system tool called Android Developer Verifier, which OEMs will preload on devices launching with Android 16 QPR2 or later. With Android Developer Verifier expected to operate in the background and without an off switch, this could leave those outside Google's ecosystem with limited app options. Developers typically use this tool for app testing, as it lets users install applications from a connected PC using command-line instructions. For users comfortable with technical tools, this makes it somewhat possible to sideload unverified apps. For now, however, even the tiniest sideload loophole must offer some relief to passionate Android users.
