The physical aspect of the mod involves resoldering the GPU and memory chips onto a new PCB, which is a complicated task in itself. The modder needed to buy a separate, pre-made PCB with all important connections and chips, as well as additional memory modules. What works in one direction also works in the other, letting them tell the card it has more memory instead—in this case, up to 48GB. This modder claims the project cost him around 219,000 rubles, or around $2,570, per VideoCardz.
