This is an important question for orbital dynamics, because whenever the ratio of two orbital periods is a ratio of integers, especially when the integers are small, then the two bodies will be in a state of resonance, which was the fundamental source of chaos in Poincaré’s stability analysis of the three-body problem. The term “KAM theory”, using the first initials of the three theorists, was coined in 1968 by B. V.
