The impressive collection of books, magnets and crab artifacts of all shapes and sizes – all gifts from his students – are a testament to his life’s work at Colorado State University researching the biological processes that drive molting in crustaceans. Under his leadership, the “Crab Lab” was one of the largest research groups on campus – frequently hosting many undergrads for their first projects while also supporting numerous graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. During his time at CSU, he also served as the interim chair of the department, the associate dean for graduate studies in the College of Natural Sciences and the director of the university Honors Program.
