Daisy Edgar-Jones is set star in a new big-screen adaptation of Jane Austen’s 19th-century novel, Sense and Sensibility. Edgar-Jones, 27, shared the news on Instagram, where she posted a photograph of herself holding up a paperback copy of the novel. Originally published in 1811, “Sense and Sensibility” was the first novel by Austen, who later wrote such literary classics as “Pride and Prejudice,” “Emma” and “Persuasion.” The story of “Sense and Sensibility” follows sisters Elinor (Edgar-Jones) and Marianne Dashwood, who navigate love, loss and financial uncertainty as they are forced to leave their family estate in Sussex. The role of Marianne Dashwood hasn’t been announced yet. “Sense and Sensibility” has been adapted for the screen a number of times over the years, most notably with director Ang Lee’s 1995 film starring Emma Thompson as Elinor Dashwood and Kate Winslet as Marianne.
