The 17th annual Dempsey Challenge, a fundraiser for the Dempsey Center, took place over the weekend.
In total, this year's event collected more than $1.6 million for the Dempsey Center.

According to the organization's website, the Dempsey Center was founded by actor Patrick Dempsey in 2008.
While Maine has some amazing oncologists and cancer treatment centers, the Dempsey Center fills in the gaps not covered by hospitals.
