The closure was in response to Ohio’s new law, Senate -1, also known as the Advanced Ohio Higher Education Act, that banned the studies on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) following the federal government’s orders.
The state law had warned firmly that if it was not adhered to, the University would not receive state funding.
The law, S-1, after Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed it a few months back, removed the programmes on diversity, equity in higher education from state colleges and universities.
The justification was that the DEI programmes in government and study campuses were discriminatory in nature since they encouraged people to think in terms of race.
The university, he said, had decided to remove “references to DEI principles across university websites, social media and collateral materials.
