Two former employees of Brown Health and Rehab in Royston have been indicted by the Franklin County Grand Jury on two counts of neglect to a resident and one count of fraud in obtaining dangerous drugs. According to the indictment, in July of this year, the employees, Yvonda Rochelle Varnuma and Penny Deborah Sammons, unlawfully obtained the drug Seroquel, which had been prescribed to a resident of Brown Health and Rehab who had died. The indictment states the pair then used the drug to sedate two other residents, preventing them from making medical requests of the two accused and depriving the residents of needed medical care to the extent that their health and well-being were jeopardized. Both were arrested on August 1 and are currently out on bond.
