A couple has been indicted on 17 counts of theft by deception by the Franklin County Grand Jury. The Georgia Dept of Agriculture Law Enforcement Division said multiple victims reported they agreed to purchase cattle from Hill (AKA Jared Smith), who fraudulently advertised cattle for sale. Investigators with the Department of Agriculture say Hill allegedly conducted the scam in Georgia, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. He was arrested by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) on May 7th, 2025. GDA Law Enforcement worked with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and the Arkansas Department of Agriculture Law Enforcement on this investigation.
