MVV Environment is reportedly considering legal action against the Government as more details emerge of the environment secretary’s attempts to halt energy-from-waste (EfW) projects. Ten days after Defra announced a pause on any new EfW plants being approved, the BBC has reported that Steve Barclay had sought legal advice on powers to stop new permits and revoke approved ones. The request for advice from Barclay’s office, seen by the BBC, was sent on 21 February, the day after planning permission had been granted for MVV’s Wisbech EfW plant in Barclay’s North East Cambridgeshire constituency.
