Staff will answer questions about utility’s Public Safety Power Shutoff policyOpen houses about FortisBC’s Public Safety Power Shutoff policy will be held in Hedley and Midway in October. Earlier this year, FortisBC announced it would put safety measures in place, including a Public Safety Power Shutoff policy, where electricity is proactively shut off in selected areas in advance of extreme weather. FortisBC has said the shutoff policy would be a last resort, to be used only in extreme circumstances. The forum in Hedley will be held Oct. 14 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Chuchuwayha Community Hall, Hwy. Additional information on FortisBC’s Public Safety Power Shutoff can be found online at fortisbc.com/psps.
