I’ve lived in an area three miles south of the 101 Freeway, sometimes referred to as Cornell, for over 20 years. I’m writing to express my deep concern over the state-mandated housing developments that are to come in our area, particularly how they will impact evacuation safety for communities south of the 101 Freeway. Not to mention, all of this is happening in a Very High Fire Severity Zone, the developments with new residents included. This is about proper planning with safety precautions that should have been carefully planned out. With wildfires expressing themselves in ways we haven’t experienced before, we need to raise our standards around safety and preparedness.
