The Acorn recently highlighted the enrollment growth and graduation rates of the Las Virgenes Unified School District. LVUSD itself set higher targets in its Local Control and Accountability Plan, the state-mandated plan that ties student outcomes to spending and staffing. The February 2025 update presented to the school board confirmed the district isn’t close. That equals about $124 per student in superintendent overhead, far higher than Oak Park ($99), Santa Monica–Malibu ($84), or Conejo Valley ($72). Why are our elected school board officials approving higher executive pay and more overhead while LVUSD continues to miss its own academic goals?
