VIDEO: Boka Vanguard transports Carnival Vista to Grand Bahama Shipyard Written by Nick BlenkeyRoyal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) has successfully loaded the 3,394 passenger cruise ship Carnival Vista on its semi-submersible heavy lift vessel Boka Vanguard and transported it to Grand Bahama Shipyard in Freeport, Bahamas for a unique drydocking operation.
Commencing last Saturday, July 13, at sunrise, the Boka Vanguard loaded and lifted the cruise ship in a successful operation a few miles off the coast of Freeport.
The Boka Vanguard then safely transported Carnival Vista to Grand Bahama Shipyard where repairs to the ship’s Azipod propulsion system will take place while the cruise ship is resting on the heavy lift vessel.
On completion of the repairs, Carnival Vista will be offloaded in time for its next scheduled cruise voyage from Galveston, Texas on July 27.
About the Boka VanguardThe Boka Vanguard is the world’s largest semi-submersible ship uniquely positioned to lift and transport extremely heavy cargoes in a dry and safe manner.
