Over 500 guests attended the event at the National Motorcycle Museum organised by by the recently formed BHF Asian Business Board – Heart of Birmingham (ABB). The Board was created to help fund lifesaving BHF research and address heart health disparities in South Asian communities, who face a 50% higher risk of heart conditions like coronary heart disease. Among the guest speakers was the board’s founder, Amina Hussain, whose teenage son, Junaid, was diagnosed as a baby with a rare congenital heart condition called ‘cor triatriatum’. He underwent lifesaving open heart surgery aged 7 months at Birmingham Children's Hospital. "The money raised will help fund vital research across the Midlands and the rest of the UK into reducing the number of early deaths from cardiovascular disease.
