TAHLEQUAH [mdash] Jerry Noel Self was born November 6, 1937, in Westville, OK to George Alvin Self and Ruth (Hinds) Self. Jerry attended school in Westville, OK, followed by college in Stillwater, OK at OSU, where he later graduated in 1959 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Jerry was selected as the top Civil Engineering Student his graduation year. Jerry met and married his wife, Rosemary Keene Self, in Adair CO, OK in 1955. They celebrated 70 wonderful years together on July 30, 2025. Jerry loved archery, hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, camping at the lake, the farm or the Colorado mountains. Jerry enjoyed the company of many dear friends. Jerry started working for Manhattan Construction CO. in 1958. In 1972 he was appointed Vice President of Manhattan. He retired from Manhattan Construction in 1978. Jerry later opened his own business, Self Construction CO, located in Muskogee, OK, in 1979. Jerry built all kinds of schools, commercial properties, jails, post offices, etc. Jerry was a 32nd degree mason as well as a Shriner. Some organizations dear to his heart were: St. Judes Children's Hospital, American Cancer Society, and St. Josephs' Indian School. Jerry is survived by his wife, Rosemary, of the home; Son, Jerry Self, of Tahlequah; daughter, Teressa Self-Doshier and husband, Jack Doshier, of Tahlequah. Siblings: Virginia Searles, of Westville; Evelyn Brashear and husband, Ray Brashear, of Westville. Grandchildren: Elisha Nagorka, of Marston Mills, MA and Victor (Jock) Stevens, of Tahlequah; Kyle Stevens and wife, Laura Stevens of Tahlequah; Joshua Self of Tahlequah; Nicole Self of Anchorage AK; Sabrina Self, of Tahlequah, OK. Great Grandchildren: Aiden Stevens, Emma Stevens, Charlotte Nagorka, Eloise Nagorka, Kace Stevens, and Kooper Stevens Jerry was preceded in death by his parents: George Alvin Self and Ruth Hinds Self. His sister, Patricia Self and daughter Deborah Self-Watson. Jerry was proud of his Native American heritage and was the great grandson of Cherokee Chief, Dennis Bushyhead. A memorial service will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on 2025-08-27 at Green Country Funeral Home Chapel, 203 Ron Rice Ave. .
