LEAWOOD, KS [mdash] Robert Wayne Scearce, 83, formerly of Tahlequah, passed away August 21, 2025. Born August 27, 1941, in Wilburton, he was raised in Tahlequah and attended Northeastern State College, then earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1964. Robert spent 40 years with General Motors, retiring in 2003 from Fairfax Assembly in Kansas City. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1965 to 1971 and was honorably discharged as Sergeant (E-5). Survivors include his wife, Virginia "Ginnie" Melzarek Gibbons; children Steven (Diane) and Andrew "Andy" (Mai); stepchildren Robert Thomas Gibbons III (Amy) and Susan Marie Gibbons-Brom (John); sister Aulena Gibson; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings. Robert will be missed so very much, but a great part of him stays with us, always.
