Detectives and forensic crime scene investigators were seen throughout the week going into the couple's home in Old Moor. Milton Parish Council, which Mrs Hoskins was a former chairman of, described the couple as "longstanding and popular" figures within the village. Mr and Mrs Hoskins were well known in the Milton community having lived in the village since the 1970s. Mrs Hoskins was also the secretary and treasurer for Milton Welfare Trust. In recent years it has been reported that she gave up some of her community work because her husband became ill.
