Former police officer barred after sharing confidential information
['Mary Stenson']
Ledbury Reporter | News
PC Rowan Boyle, who was based in Worcester, faced a misconduct hearing over multiple allegations about how he had handled information.
Between May 2016 and September 2022, he had stored sensitive and confidential information on his personal phone, breaching the force's data protection policy.
It was also discovered that he didn't declare that he knew someone who was involved in crime "in a timely manner".
When PC Boyle eventually did disclose his knowledge of the person, he didn't mention that he had also previously checked the person on police computer systems.
At the misconduct hearing on Thursday, September 18, it was decided that PC Boyle would have been dismissed without notice if he hadn't already left the force.
