RCSI publishes updated code of practice for surgeons

Published by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) the third edition of the code is a comprehensive guide designed to support surgeons in upholding the highest standards of patient care and professional conduct.
First published in 2004 and updated in 2016, the code provides a straightforward set of principles that surgeons can use to inform and guide their practice.
The updated code responds directly to recent changes in Irish healthcare legislation, including the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015 (amended in 2022) and the Patient Safety (Notifiable Incidents and Open Disclosure) Act 2023.
