A casual conversation has sparked a major fundraising initiative in Wexford, as Menapians Athletics Club & South East Radio have officially announced a four-mile charity road race in support of RNLI Lifeboats and the Wexford Special Olympics Club. The event will take place on Sunday, October 27th, during the October Bank Holiday weekend — the same day as the Dublin City Marathon. Wexford Special Olympics is preparing for the Ireland Games next year, with 14 athletes already selected and more possibly joining in the next round. RNLI Wexford is inching closer to its target of €117,000 to replace their 10-year-old lifeboat.
