Omnicare, the largest long-term care pharmacy in the United States, announced Monday that it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The huge pharmaceutical and medication management provider said the “voluntary” court-supervised bankruptcy process is partially in response to a $949 million judgment issued against it earlier this year. In connection with the filing in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas, Omnicare has entered into an agreement for $110 million in debtor-in-possession financing. It claims liabilities of between $1 billion and $10 billion, and assets totaling $100 million to $500 million in its bankruptcy filing, according to a published report. CVS Health began seeking to sell its long-term care pharmacy business in 2022.
