SARAH GREEN: Yes, interestingly, one of the things that also caught my attention about the book was that you make the point that there’s all these different strategies for forming habits, forming better habits, and they don’t all work equally well for everybody. SARAH GREEN: So I guess I’m just wondering as we talk about the power of habits and how to form habits, is there ever a downside to having formed a habit? GRETCHEN RUBIN: Yeah, a lot of times when they talk about habits, they really are talking about what I would call a fixed habit, a simple habit, which is like putting on your seat belt or flossing where basically you can do it in exactly the same way every day at the same time.
