RICHARD CLARKE: Well, one of the things we suggest in the book is that when you have somebody who may be a Cassandra in your organization, has predicted something, and it’s never happened before, and you don’t really know whether or not to trust their data, don’t be dismissive. SARAH GREEN CARMICHAEL: We have spent a lot of time talking about super scary things, some of which have happened, some of which might happen soon. Because, in my experience, crazy things were happening all the time, and things that had never happened before were happening all the time, and unlikely things turned out to be real.
