SATYA NADELLA: One of the things that I write about in the book is this lock you get, this virtuous cycle that you create between the product and the concept that made you successful in the first place, the capability you built around that product, and the culture that ensues from it. As a company that has been successful for 43 years, that it has had to hit many hit refresh moments—because technologies have come and gone; we’ve gotten some waves right; some waves we missed—what has been most important for us, and what I felt was most important for us, is to make sure that the culture allows us to have that capability to make sure we’re going after new innovations and building new capabilities to go after those new innovations.
