SARAH GREEN CARMICHAEL: So, what are the types of lessons that great leaders should be teaching to their direct reports, like, particular—are you talking more about like life lessons or elements of the work itself? SYDNEY FINKELSTEIN: One thing you’re going to discover—and you’ve got to be alert, self-aware, emotionally intelligent, all those other good things—is pay attention to your class; pay attention to the people that you’re talking to. So, one of the things that I think great teachers do—to kind of flip the question a little bit—one of the things great teachers do is they customize their lessons for the people on their team.
