Scott DeRue, the dean of University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, says the old model of business school education is gone. Yes, the experiences that we have in life often shape how we think and then how we act and certainly everything from working in the private sector to getting to experience the top of the world with a wonderful team has certainly shaped how I think about business education and how we develop the future leaders in the world of business. And if you’re just working on the job, you’re not going to get that and our evidence is pretty clear that we can accelerate the growth and development of our MBA’s or our business school students as we wrap the education around that experience.
