Ed Stack, the chief executive of Dick’s Sporting Goods, decided after the Parkland school shooting to pull assault rifles and high-capacity magazines from all of his company’s stores. ED STACK: Well, it felt different this time, because we had never made a decision quite this significant that could impact our business since the decision we made at, after Sandy Hook. I think that our company has always gotten involved in the community, and tried to make a difference where we could, whether it was, as I talk about in the book, what my father did with Little League back in Binghamton, New York, where the company started, to what we’ve done with youth sports programs, what we’ve done around kids, and then now what we’re doing about the gun issue, also.
