But the reality is we are asked all the time to speak on the spot, answering questions, giving feedback, making small talk, we really do need to spend some time focusing on this type of communication. MATT ABRAHAMS: We have all listened to the person who rambles on and on, and in spontaneous speaking situations, like answering a question or giving feedback, for example, people are thinking about what they’re saying while they’re saying it, and that causes them to ramble on and on. MATT ABRAHAMS: In addition to teaching, I coach people as well, and I have countless examples I can give of people who have improved their communication and ability to speak in the moment.
