Former M-P Josh Guillory accused the state legislative auditor of “political prostitution” over its conclusions about the spoil banks project, as his city-parish attorney (standing at right) sought to blame the executive chief of staff who had only been on the job for seven weeks. Auditor Michael Waguespack was elected legislative auditor by a majority vote of the state House and Senate in 2021. M-P Guillory and his Public Works director patted themselves on the back Feb. 22 as the secretive spoil banks project wrapped up. The spoil banks project led to multiple lawsuits, including one that is ongoing with St. Martin Parish. One former LCG employee told The Current the spoil banks project was internally assigned a code name, “Apollo,” to keep it secretive.
