Cambridgeshire County Council has agreed to reduce speed limits to 20mph on most residential roads in the built-up part of Hilton. The county council said 20mph speed limits help improve road safety and encourage people to choose "healthier and more sustainable transport modes, such as walking and cycling." However, some of those who opposed the changes question whether reducing the speed limit to 20mph would actually make a difference. One person said: "Drivers who currently ignore existing speed limits are unlikely to respect new lower limits. The report said: "Ultimately, it was agreed that the 20mph speed limit should be implemented, primarily on road safety grounds."
