Year 5 and 6 pupils from Hartford Junior School in Huntingdon, part of The Cam Academy Trust, walked to the Thinking Soldier memorial in the town’s Market Square as part of their World War II history lessons. Rae Lee, headteacher at Hartford Junior School, said: "Our Year 5s and 6s behaved impeccably during our visit to the Thinking Soldier memorial in the centre of Huntingdon and we were very proud of them. "The children were very interested in the history of the Thinking Soldier in the heart of our town and it has helped them to understand more about the sacrifices made during conflicts like the World Wars. "At Hartford Junior School, we are committed to making sure that every child is inspired in their learning and trips like this are an important way of bringing subjects and learning to life." The Thinking Soldier, a life-sized statue of a World War One soldier, commemorates both World Wars and post-1945 conflicts.
