The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight aircraft made three passes over Alconbury Weald during a Heritage Open Day which offered a moving tribute to the airfield’s military legacy. The event, held on September 13, featured guided tours of the avionics building and a cold war-era bunker used for gathering intelligence from TR1 reconnaissance aircraft. The Lancaster aircraft made three passes over Alconbury. "The Lancaster flypast was an amazing addition to this year’s event, and to see it approach along The Boulevard and fly past the refurbished Watch Office, was particularly poignant." The event was held alongside the Alconbury Weald Community Association’s Fun Day, which included food, games, and live music.
