Conor McGregor has formally pulled out of the Irish presidential election, saying that after talking things over with his family and thinking a lot, he cannot continue with his bid. He needed one of two things to get on the ballot: either 20 members of the Oireachtas (TDs or Senators), or nominations from 4 local councils. He also stated that while he is not running this time, his desire to contribute to public life remains. Some say McGregor never had enough support among local politicians to secure formal nominations. He’ll not appear on the ballot for the October presidential election.
