Unite urges wage bailout as JLR supply chain staff told to seek universal credit

Workers across Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) supply chain are being laid off on reduced or zero pay and in some cases advised to apply for Universal Credit, according to union Unite.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said it was “unacceptable” for staff to shoulder the burden of the cyber attack.
“Workers in the JLR supply chain must not be made to pay the price,” she said.
Most of its 950 staff have been sent home on reduced pay, while 220 agency staff have been stood down without pay.
Ministers must step up fast with emergency support to stop this digital siege at JLR spreading economic havoc through the supply chain,” stated Byrne.
