Almost nine out of 10 people (88%) support Government plans for pavement “charging gullies” to help those in terraced houses to run cables under the pavement and charge electric vehicles (EV) at home, according to September’s Startline Used Car Tracker. The study, based on 301 consumers and 60 dealers, indicates 62% believe gullies would make it practical for people living in terraces to buy an EV. A further 37% say the measure would help households access cheaper home charging. Other perceived benefits include the view from 31% that gullies are a simple and effective solution that is easy to install, and from 16% that they would stop people trailing cables across pavements. Just 6% point out that terraced residents cannot always park outside their home to use a gully, while only 3% think installation will cause disruption.
